Blazers hope to get back on track in the Twin Cities vs. Wolves

02/27/2009 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Portland Trail Blazers hope to salvage the finale of their current road trip in tonight's clash with the Minnesota Timberwolves from the Target Center.

Portland suffered losses to a pair of the Western Conference's top clubs in Houston and San Antonio during the first two tests of its three-game swing and has now dropped five in a row on the road. The Blazers are just 12-17 as the visiting team this season, compared to an excellent 23-5 mark on their home court.

Despite playing without Tim Duncan, the Spurs extended Portland's road woes with Wednesday's 99-84 victory at the AT&T Center. The Trail Blazers shot a woeful 37.6 percent from the field, with leading scorer Brandon Roy managing just 14 points while making 5-of-18 attempts.

Channing Frye led Portland with 15 points and added seven rebounds, while LaMarcus Aldridge and Travis Outlaw each scored 13 points in the loss.

The road-challenged Blazers figure to have a better chance to get back in the win column tonight, considering the Timberwolves are only 8-20 at the Target Center so far this season and are mired in a four-game overall losing streak.

Portland has also had great success when facing the T-Wolves as of late. The Trail Blazers have won the last six meetings between these teams, with three of those victories having taken place in Minnesota.

The Timberwolves' recent struggles continued with Wednesday's 120-103 setback to visiting Utah, the team's ninth defeat in its last 10 games. Minnesota has surrendered 110 points or more in each of its past six losses.

On the bright side, Kevin Love put together his most productive game of his brief career for the Timberwolves. The rookie forward, the fifth overall pick of the 2008 draft, scored a personal-best 24 points and tied a season high with 15 rebounds.

Ryan Gomes also netted 24 points for Minnesota, which received 21 points from Mike Miller as well on the evening.

However, the Bucks did rout the Mavs by a 133-99 score at the Bradley Center back on January 21, with Villanueva leading the way with 32 points and 10 rebounds.

The Wings will look to offensive powerhouse Pavel Datsyuk and newly appointed captain Nicklas Lidstrom to lead one of the league's most prominent franchises.

Always a threat are the Ottawa Senators, with newly acquired goaltender Martin Gerber from the Stanley Cup champion ,Carolina Hurricanes. The Sens are second best in the rankings at a 7-1 bet, and odds makers at this sportsbook are optimistic that the Ottawa squad will fare better than last season's Eastern Conference semi-final upset to the Buffalo Sabres.

Also worth noting are the defending Stanley Cup champs Carolina Hurricanes, a 10-1 bet to repeat. Behind the Canes are the New Jersey Devils, Calgary Flames, Buffalo Sabres, Philadelphia Flyers, and Anaheim Mighty Ducks all sit at 12-1.
